Actions You Can Take
There are steps you can take to support Lake Mendota Drive residents and the larger Spring Harbor community as they attempt to get the City of Madison to adjust their plans and make the environment and historical/cultural characteristics stated priorities in any street reconstruction project in the neighborhood, and work with residents in the design of solutions that address the contamination of water supplies like Well 14 and Lake Mendota, which are important resources for Madison residents on a larger scale.
Below are links to two petitions written to specifically ask the City of Madison to adjust their approach so that environmental and historical/cultural issues are prioritized, and community engagement is broad and collaborative, rather than the top-down approach the City has so far imposed.
Petition – Slow Down Planning
This petition is to the City of Madison asking them to slow down the planning 6 to 8 weeks and work with community residents to ensure that environmental and cultural needs are included. Click below or picture to read full text of petition and sign on.
